Commissions

If you’re thinking of commissioning a unique piece, don’t worry – collaboration on ideas, colours and images is a really rewarding and easy process.

Most paintings begin with a simple conversation; ‘I love these colours, here’s a picture of something I really like’ and evolves into a discussion of what would work well in a particular spot in the client’s home or workplace.

It’s easy to share inspiring images on whatsapp or pinterest to arrive at an idea of what is most desirable. Take a look through my portfolio for inspiration and to see the kind of work I can create.

I’ll prepare a quote and agree a brief based on the size and complexity of the piece, and if you decide to go ahead, I may sketch a composition or two for approval before commencing. This is more usual if your subject matter is a particular beach/ person or thing – less usual with an abstract piece – although I do like to supply paint colour references because colours can appear very differently in photographs and on emails.

It is useful to see what the light is like in the space your painting is intended for, and take measurements.

Additions and alterations to the brief once your artwork is underway can be accommodated if practical, and I’ll advise if this affects the price. Occasionally I require a £50 deposit for materials and to book my time. The final balance is paid upon completion. Any Questions please ask!

Materials: I work on paper, board or canvas, mainly in acrylic. I use Windsor and Newton canvasses – custom made sizes are possible but very expensive, so I generally advise using readymade sizes, of which there are lots to choose from.

Copyright

As is usual, the artist retains copyright although you buy the work.
